Welcome to the Ames High Class of 1982 website.
AHS Class of 1982 - 40th Reunion
Was June 24th & 25th, 2022
On behalf of all the organizers, thank you to everyone who has registered to attend one or more of the many events on June 24-25.
Below are a few reminders and announcements. For a list of alumni who are registered to attend (sadly, it doesn’t list spouses/guests), go to Classmate Profiles and click on each of the events.
As you may know and can see from the Missing Classmates page on the website, a number of our classmates have passed away since graduation. In order to remember these friends we will have a bulletin board set up at dinner with their names. Feel free to bring a photo or note or memento to honor and remember them.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Mark J & Betsy C.
Important Announcements / AHS Tour Cancelled
Meet & Greet, Friday, 7:00 p.m, Sweet Caroline’s, 316 Main St.
Before the Meet & Greet, check out Ames on the Half Shell (5-8 PM at Bandshell Park) – the annual outdoor concert series presented by the Ames Jaycees. The June 24th featured performer is Burning Sensations. Food will be available to purchase from Smiles & Gyros and Kona Ice.
Golf, Saturday, 8:30 a.m. Veenker Memorial Golf Course
Please contact Kurt Koneck (konedog64@gmail.com) if you have any last minute questions.
Nature Walk, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - Tedesco Environmental Learning Corridor, 1815 Plaza Loop, Ames, Iowa 50010
The front entrance to the park is located off South University Boulevard, just one mile south of the Gateway Hotel and next to the Economic Development Core Facility. Ample partking is available. Plan to meet at the shelter and tables near the front entrance. Beth Waage, a naturalist with Story County Conservation, will lead a tour starting at 10:15am for those interested in hearing about how the park showcases conservation techniques, sustainable technologies, environmental education, water quality awareness, and trail connectivity. https://www.storycountyiowa.gov/1369/Tedesco-Environmental-Learning-Corridor
Lunch, Saturday, 12:30 (this is later than originally advertised) - Veenker Memorial Golf Course
Due to the large number of classmates from 1981 and 1982 who signed up for the lunch, our class of 1982 is asked to arrived at Veenker from 12:00-1:00. There is limited seating, so please bring folding chairs and/or picnic blankets for yourself and others. Your classmates who flew to Ames will thank you! Beverages will be available for purchase at the golf course (water, soda, cocktails). No outside drinks may be brought in. Enjoy a simple boxed lunch (nothing fancy) with your classmates.
Signup is closed for the lunch -- no registrations are being accepted. There will be a check-in table.
AHS Campus Tour, 2:30 p.m - CANCELLED
Sadly, the new building won’t be ready for visitors. The good news is that the geriatrics among us can use this time for a nap!
Class of 1982 Dinner, Saturday, 6:00 p.m. – Alluvial Brewery, 3715 West 190th
We had to cap registration for this event at 100 people due to site regulations. However, if the weather is nice and we can flow outside, there is always room for anyone who wants to join the class for a drink. The dress code is casual.
